Newsletter 2004

At the start of the new millennium the future looked bleak for our students as they struggled to survive in a land decimated by the Khmer Rouge. Our teenagers came from various impoverished backgrounds and academic levels however thay were all bound by a burning desire and a determination to improve their lives. I’m thrilled to report that most have now completed their studies and found employment in their chosen fields. For those of you who have been following their progress here is a brief summary of what some of them have achieved.

Da’Vid….completed English/Computer studies.Qualifications….I T Computer Technician Diploma. Level 10 English Certificate. Sponsored by ACYC.  Boarded at ACYC. Employment: Part time manager of ACYC.

Sophea….Completed Bachelor of Accounting degree/Bachelor of English degree. Had private sponsor for Accounting Degree. English studies sponsored by ACYC.  Lived at Pagaoda with monks. Employment….Accounts Department with International Organization.

Rithy…Completed English/ Computer studies/Autocad. Employment…Trainee with local firm. Had private sponsor for all his studies. Boarded at ACYC

Dany… Studying for her Bachelor of English Degree. Working part time as English teacher at local  Khmer Primary school. Sponsored by ACYC. Lived at Community Centre for the poor.

Saloon…Studying for her Year 12 Certificate. English sponsored by ACYC. Lived at local Orphanage.

Namee…Completed English Teacher Training Course. Employment..English teacher/ Laison Officer for local community. Sponsored by ACYC. Lived at Community Centre for the poor.

Saren…Completed English/Computer studies. Employment…IT Computer Technician with International Organization. Had private sponsor for studies. Boarded at ACYC

Kosal…Completed English/Computer studies. Employment… Computer operator with local Ministry. Sponsored by ACYC. Boarded at ACYC.
